As we discussed in class, there are two sides to the transformational process–the dual dynamics of transformation–and both must be attended to in a transformational coaching process.

On one side is the propulsion system. Our propulsion is the inherent motivation, will, intention, desire, and commitment to grow and evolve into a more whole and complete human being; it’s the work we do in partnership with the life giving action of Spirit to increasingly become the person we know we can become.

This can mean becoming more kind or compassionate, more peaceful or self aware, more confident or self assured, more creative or joyful. Some aspire to grander heights of self realization, becoming an “enlightened being” or a loving presence. For all these efforts, we need to orient mind and energy to achieving that end. And while transformation unfolds of its own volition, as it is part of our soul’s innate desire for greater self realization, to actualize these new levels of self requires an intentional act to grow and evolve into more and more of our innate potential.

The other side of the transformational process is our personal gravity.  In order to best support and accelerate the inner revolution of the self that is occurring within, there must be a willingness to look at those aspects of ourselves that hold us back and limit our growth – our limiting beliefs, unattended sorrow, and false images of self. Some of our personal gravity is inherent, having been hardwired into us at birth, and others aspects are learned through social conditioning, our early relationships, and our environment.

Regardless, if we are to become beings of greater integrity (meaning, wholeness), we must at some point courageously face our personal gravity, that which holds us back, and release or heal it. And this is why nurturing a healing space is a vital practice.

When we do face our gravity in a healing space, we lighten the load we are carrying. In turn this simultaneously enables our propulsion system to more effectively move us forward. As we heal (release, forgive, integrate, transcend) we move with greater ease into the person we are becoming as we shed the baggage of the past.

Leave no stone unturned, no corner of your mind unexplored- you are encouraged to shine light on the dark recesses of your mind that act as your gravity, and release or transmute what is there.

And there is plenty there!

When you experience guilt or shame, that’s your gravity speaking. When you experience doubt and worry, that’s your gravity speaking. When you experience greed and desire, that’s your gravity speaking. When you have the need to attack, control, win, be right, or dominate, that’s your gravity speaking. These are basic ego patterns, and we all have them.

We all experience the pain that is born of the ego. And there is no end to the pain that you will experience when you are not living in the eternal moment of now, fully present and conscious. Your greatest hope for ending your struggle and pain once and for all is to embrace the truth of Who You Are, live in complete acceptance of what is, and allow love more space in your heart. This will give you the courage and strength needed to face your gravity and ‘clean the muck out’ so that it no longer has such a grip.

Fear, a sense of lack, and resistance within your mind block the expression of light and love. To face your gravity is to process that fear, and to heal yourself. Commit to the process of clearing out the vestibules of fear so that you live lightly and in step with love and joy. That will be the end of your gravity. And that is enlightenment.

Reflection Questions:

  1. What does understanding that there are two sides to the transformational process mean to you as a deep coach?
  2. How are you in your sessions attending to both aspects of the process?
  3. How does a healing space support the releasing of personal gravity?

Balloon Releasing Technique: Healing Your Gravity

Find a quiet place, and go into your quiet place releasing all the thoughts of the day and focus on the emotions that are now calling to be removed and released from your physical body.  Listen to your breathing and feel where you feel the tightness, usually this is in the abdominal and chest areas of the body.  Breathe into it, releasing the breath as if you are going to blow smoke away from your body.

  1. 1. Understanding the duality allows compassion to enter the session – it is a journey and all parts of the journey are ok and welcome in the session
    2. When healing is needed we offer it to Spirit
    3. The healing space is safe space filled with energies needed to support and allow healing

  2. 1.) Understanding the two sides gives me a reference that looks like balance of what is reality when working as a deep coach. The propulsion system helps me hold my client as their highest self and the personal gravity helps me see what is creating suffering and holding them back from that. The personal gravity part helps me meet the client where they are vs. trying to “motivate” and “inspire” them to achieve their goal in the propulsion system without addressing limiting beliefs.
2.) I haven’t really looked at this yet, but after reading this I plan to, stay tuned 😉
3.) To me a healing space provides support to release personal gravity because it can help someone feel safe.

  3. 1. Understanding that there are two sides to the transformational process means that in order to evolve and transform healing from personal gravity needs to be addressed and allowed and my role as a deep coach is to create the healing space in my coaching session. This healing space is also created and energized by connecting to our spiritual values in ourselves and in our clients to allowing the space for the actions of the Spirit to guide and transform.
    2. I am still at an early stage of attending to these two aspects in the new light of connecting with the light within me and the light within my clients.
    3. Healing space creates a place that is safe, forgiving, compassionate and is guided.

  4. 1. Something has to go to make space for something else to come. They won’t mix
    2. Can’t say yet .. not enough sessions still to be able to reply to this question
    3. The Healing space is the space that allows for the letting go to be with ease .. safe, kind, respectful, accepting, containing

  5. I woke up early today with a long walk in the chilled air eager to start my learning for my Week 5. I feel enlightened, excited, beginning to transform, knowing that there is so much yet to learn. I have barely stopped to eat (unusual for me) as I eagerly read through the material. I thought of so many examples and stories in my life where I have evolved through Spiritual Partnering and how I will approach the 3 tenets of Deep Coaching so that I can continue to develop them within myself and begin to share them with others. This will all propel me to continue to transform and to energize my Spirit to become a Deep Coach.

I, also, realize that as I approach midnight that I am tired and still need to practice self-care as I will not be ready to help others if I do not hold space to heal myself. This is my moment to pause. I want so much to let come and yet I need to think about what I still have to let go. It will always be a process. A beautiful process…one that I so look forward to nurturing myself as well as others. My red balloon has been released !

  6. 1. The two sides are like the clothing of Deep coaching. You “put this on” as a paradigm and then you are ready to coach. Like an athlete that needs certain clothes to compete at a high level this gets you ready. Otherwise we can be drawn to the drama and respond with advice and lived experience missing the opportunity presented.
    2. Always attending to language that exposes the 8 limiting beliefs of personal gravity while at the same time hearing the brilliance of the light/magnificence. Then dancing between them and allowing the light to help inform limits and woo the coachee toward their true self.
    3. We all need safety in order to transform. It is the only thing that will take us out of our primitive mind that thinks it is keeping us safe when in fact it is stuck in these loops of limiting belief. A loving presence helps us see what is happening and welcome transformation.

  7. 1. The two sides of the process are like the playing field that we enter Having a good grasp of that is like showing up to the game ready to play and able to offer strategic support as you engage.
    2. Attending to language is the biggest piece – our language betrays our personal gravity story and yet we also speak of our dreams and aspirations. I think my attention to these is activated by exposing both sides and seeing which story the client wants to “feed”.
    3. We will not transform at our subconscious level if there is any hint of judgment, need to change or expectation. A healing space takes out the role of the ego so that the level of true self can be accessed.

  8. Understanding that all personal gravity stems from the ego goes a long way towards understanding my own limiting beliefs. I have often believed that propulsion alone is enough without consciously realising how personal gravity is pulling me down so often. This has been a revelation.

  9. 1. It simplifies it.

Creating confidence and the awareness of what is being heard, felt and experienced in the session.

There’s opportunities within, as each side can be followed like a thread towards deeper realms of personal experience.

It guides and holds my inquiry in place, supported in knowledge and understanding.

This is the way of transformation, and knowing that is very helpful.

It signals to which end deeper dives might want to occur.

It provides explorative fields and relatable issues. Making for a deeper connection as we see ourselves in others.

    2. I am growing aware of these aspects, exploring ways to drop in.

Developing an ear to recognise and sense them as energies and vibrations.

    Deep coaching is about allowance.
Bringing an awareness to each. By resting in the tone, by asking whats there, what might be sensed at that level, what do we experience when bringing this into your awareness, whats emerging and invite the client into a deeper experience of what is found.

    3. It invites a person into safety, and through safety we’re more likely to share with another person.

Healing spaces are safe. Which starts with ‘being’ a safe space myself.

My being is the healing space. I am the healing space. And all healing happens in the presence of love.

  10. 1. It means we cannot run before we can walk, it means before I can bathe myself in the light I must first attend to the darkness that is snuffing it out. As a coach I have to surrender to the fact that the coachee must first be willing to confront all that lies within the personal gravity where I will be waiting for them, before we can be propelled anywhere.

    2. Its a bit to early for me to say but, I hope to attend to them by being present, allowing my inner light to shine through and also using the 9 practices to the best of my ability.

    3. The healing space helps support the process by enveloping the coachee in presence, safety and trust, so much so that the coachee can allow themselves to be vulnerable, peeling away the layers of armour and protection used for general day to day interaction with the world. This allows the fear and all negativity that holds us back (Personal Gravity) to be transmuted into elevated positive energy which then strengthens even more the nurturing healing space, creating an even stronger foundation for propulsion
